Amazon Prime Delivers Victory Against Alphonso Davies in Rapid Race

To promote the speed of Amazon Prime’s Same-Day delivery, brand experience and innovation company Akcelo has launched a new national campaign for Amazon Canada starring Alphonso Davies, captain of the Canadian men’s national soccer team and one of the fastest players in the world.

Launching just ahead of Prime Big Deal Days, the campaign humorously connects Alphonso’s trademark pace with Amazon’s Same-Day delivery promise, and builds on the success of Amazon Canada’s previous athlete collaborations, including tennis star Leylah Fernandez.

In the hero 40-second film, Alphonso is interviewed by a reporter who challenges him to prove his speed by racing against an Amazon Prime Same-Day delivery driver. He reluctantly takes on the test, only to see the driver arrive first, reinforcing Prime's fast delivery promise.

Mike Cornwell, head of Amazon Affiliates, said, “Alphonso’s pace is unmatched on the pitch, but it made for the perfect way to dramatise the promise of Prime delivery. Canadians want speed and reliability when they shop in the Amazon Canada store, and this campaign brings that benefit to life in a way that’s fun and memorable.”

Supporting content will extend the campaign across social channels and a national rollout across Canada. Crucially, the work also leans into Canada’s co-hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2026 — placing Alphonso at the centre of a global cultural moment. By linking Amazon Prime to one of the most-watched sporting events in the world, the campaign connects speed, culture and national pride in a way that extends far beyond a single spot.
